{"id":159,"date":"2013-08-04T17:34:13","date_gmt":"2013-08-04T20:34:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/preview.fencingnb.ca\/?page_id=159"},"modified":"2025-11-25T19:56:33","modified_gmt":"2025-11-25T23:56:33","slug":"governance","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.fencingnb.ca\/?page_id=159","title":{"rendered":"FENB Overview"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<div id=\"text_only-text1\">\n<p><strong>Fencing &#8211; Escrime NB <\/strong>(FENB) is incorporated as\u00a0the provincial branch of the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.fencing.ca\/\">Canadian Fencing Federation<\/a>\u00a0with the\u00a0mandate to govern the sport of fencing in the province of New Brunswick and our responsibilities are\u00a0to promote, develop, regulate, encourage and improve the sport of fencing in New Brunswick as well as to represent and coordinate the interests of New Brunswick fencers.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>FENB Mission:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<div>\n<div id=\"document-text1\">\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To encourage people in New Brunswick to participate in and enjoy the sport of fencing, both recreationally and competitively, in a safe environment at a reasonable cost.<\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"zxx\" align=\"left\">FENB Values:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the spirit of\u00a0community\u00a0that fencing can foster,<\/li>\n<li>inclusive\u00a0participation<\/li>\n<li>the tradition of\u00a0honour\u00a0which respects and fosters the dignity and rights of others through fair play and sportsmanship,<\/li>\n<li>excellence\u00a0by inspiring personal achievement,<\/li>\n<li>a quality of\u00a0experience\u00a0through fun, enjoyment, and satisfaction in a safe environment,<\/li>\n<li>the growth of\u00a0confidence, character,\u00a0and increased\u00a0self-esteem.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Our Ends Statements:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As a result of the presence of Fencing-Escrime NB (FENB)\u00a0New Brunswick has:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fencers that possess the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to participate recreationally and\/or compete provincially, nationally or internationally.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Opportunities for quality, financially accessible recreational fencing.<\/li>\n<li>Qualified coaches and officials to lead and support athletes throughout their fencing experience.<\/li>\n<li>A fencing environment that meets recognized quality, safety, technical, and accountability standards.<\/li>\n<li>A sustainable and fair not-for-profit fencing community that recognizes the contribution and value of volunteers.<\/li>\n<li>An awareness and positive perspective of the sport of fencing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A seven-member volunteer Board of Directors, elected by individual members, is accountable for the organization&#8217;s actions and has the responsibility of establishing policies in the collective best interest of its current and future members. Decisions are made within the confines of the <a href=\".\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/FENB_Bylaws_2011_12.pdf\">FENB Bylaws<\/a>, and policies are developed following a Carver policy governance model.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>FENB Strategic Plan<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Below is a copy of the Strategic Plan for Fencing-Escrime NB from 2024-2028.
